Artist’s Statement
“The Oceans are Rising” and “There is No Planet B” were signs I made for the Science March in 2019 as a reminder that these are issues we are facing together even if we don’t all experience them the same. Both are ten inches by eight inches. “The Oceans are Rising” was in reference to the ongoing climate change and how so many groups have come together to speak out about it. “There is No Planet B” was more generally in reference to climate change and how we must take care of this world as it is the only one we have.
Like much of my work, these focus on social justice issues, sometimes specifically climate justice. All of them are made with old magazines, recycling the paper with a bit of glue and a pair of scissors.
